塑料是电子信息、交通运输、航空航天、机械制造业的上游产品，在国民经济中占据着重要的地位，其发展不仅对国家支柱产业和现代高新技术产业起着支撑作用，同时也推动传统产业改造和产品结构的调整。近年来，随着我国制造业的快速发展，工程塑料的应用领域日趋广泛，用量不断增加，特别是加入WTO以后，为工程塑料行业带来了前所未有的发展机遇，年均用量增幅达到20%以上，成为了世界用量增涨最快的国家。
经过三十年的发展，中国已经初步建立了自己的工程塑料产业。世界著名公司也在我国纷纷建立了独资或合资工厂，产量逐年提高，这更加速了工程塑料工业的发展，也推动了塑料加工业的进步。我真心地希望通过展会的交流，加强国际间的合作，引进先进技术、学习国外先进经验，使工程塑料发展与国际市场接轨。我们愿与境内外同行和新老朋友一起共同发展，分享市场带来的效益。

“The 6th China International Exhibition on Engineering Plastics Industry” will be held at Shanghai New International Expo Centre on Nov. 24th-27th, 2009. During the exhibition, we will invite domestic enterprises engaged in plastic additives, plastic processing, plastic machinery and plastic product application to exhibit together. The exhibition scale reaches 50,000 sqm. This exhibition builds platform for mutual communications between up- and downstream enterprises in the Engineering Plastics Industrial Chain. With this coalition you’ll enjoy more chances to meet up with the most important buyers all over the world. And you’ll also find many buyers of additives, machinery, raw material and plastic products. Here on the behalf of CEPIA, I would like to give a warm welcome to every exhibitor and visitor.
Plastics is the upstream product of telecom, transportation, aeronautics and astronautics, and machinery manufacturing so that it plays great important role in domestic economy. Its development not only supports national pillar industry and modern high and new technology industry, but also improves traditional industry and adjusts product constructure. In recent years, with the rapid development of manufacturing, engineering plastics are widely used in all industry sectors and daily life. China’s entry into WTO has brought the greatest opportunities for the development of engineering plastics industry. The increase of China’s annual consumption of engineering plastics reaches over 20 percents, thus being the fastest on the world.
After 30-year development, China has preliminarily established its own engineering plastic industry. Many famous multinational corporations have established wholly state-funded or joint venture factories. With the increase of the benefit from investment year by year, the development and progress of engineering plastic industry have been accelerated. I really hope this communication in the exhibition will strengthen the international cooperation and introduce advanced technology and experiment to bring engineering plastic industry in line with international market. We’d like to develop with old and new, home and abroad friends and enjoy the benefits together.
